Synopsis

The monograph is devoted to the study of the scenographic activity of Anatol Petrytsky– the outstanding Ukrainian theater artist of the 20th century. A wide range of social, historical and cultural aspects of the 20th century has been presented. The main stages of formation of the artist’s creative personality have been analyzed — from his initial presentations to constructivist projects of the 1920s and picturesque 1950s, which became the significant events in the cultural life of the country. The activity of a broad and representative circle of Ukrainian intellectuals who greatly contributed to the formation of significant cultural phenomenas has been considered. The study is of considerable interest for culturologists, theater historians and arts historians, students of relevant higher educational institutions and the general public.
